We’re for Migrant Workers

We have received funding from the Department of Home Affairs to provide information and non-legal advice to workers holding a temporary visa or a student visa on their rights as an employee in Australia. Our advice is free and completely confidential. If you need legal advice, we can refer you to a free legal service for migrants.

We also provide information for employers of temporary migrant workers on their obligations and how to avoid attracting serious penalties by providing a fair workplace.

Click on the links below to find out more.

We will also be providing information sessions for workers and employers where you can ask questions.

Fill out the form below if you would like to attend an information session and we will be in touch.

Information Sessions

Nearly two thirds of migrant workers in Australia have experienced wage theft and one in four migrant workers have experienced other forms of exploitation, such as working without breaks, doing excessive overtime or being told to do unsafe work.

A lot of the time, these migrant workers don’t know what their rights are under Australian labour laws, making them vulnerable to poor work practices and exploitation. It is not always deliberate exploitation by the employer but can be due to them not knowing their obligations as an employer.

If you want to know more about your rights or obligations, you can register your interest in attending an information session either as a worker or an employer. We will contact you with the time and date of the information session.
