UnionsACT presents the 2018 Labour Day Festival & Union Picnic

Following the final Family and Community Day public holiday last year, UnionsACT is reviving Union Picnic Day, to be held on Labour Day.

The free-entry event will be held at Eddison Park in Woden, and will include carnival rides, a petting zoo, free face painting, a kids-corner, and loads of games and activities. Adults and parents will enjoy the wide variety of food trucks, entertainment and music, and a pop-up wine bar by the Canberra Wine House.

Last year, the UnionsACT Family Fun Festival saw thousands of people attend, and this year’s event will be bigger and better, with more rides, more food trucks, and more entertainment.

The following quotes are attributable to Alex White, secretary of UnionsACT:

“The Labour Day public holiday is all about celebrating the achievements of workers in unions, who have made Canberra the best city in Australia to live in.

“That’s why we are reviving Union Picnic Day, which for decades was a major annual event for working people and their families.

“Having grown the success of our Family Fun Festival over the past few years, we are confident that the Labour Day Festival and Union Picnic will be widely supported by the Canberra community.

“Everyone is welcome to the Festival, which is free for the entire community to attend. You don’t need to be a union member to enjoy the Labour Day Festival.”

The Labour Day Festival and Union Picnic is sponsored by the ACT Government.
