UnionsACT is proud to launch the Workers Lottery, a regular online raffle to support the Young Workers Centre. In particular, it will go towards the Centre’s campaigns to tackle the wage-theft crisis negatively impacting young people.
The Workers Lottery will run at least 6 times per year, and the funds will be benefit the Young Workers Centre.
UnionsACT has recognised the need to tackle the worsening wage-theft crisis, and support young workers who have their wages stolen by their boss. The Workers Lottery was created to provide a secure funding source for UnionsACT’s Young Workers Centre.
The Young Workers Centre is an initiative of UnionsACT that provides information, support and assistance to young workers facing issues at work. It also runs campaigns to stop wage-theft from taking place. It will also support activities, outreach and information provision to young workers regarding their workplace rights, workplace safety, and rights to protection from discrimination.
Lotteries Act 1964
The Workers Lottery is a raffle, and is an exempt raffle under the Lotteries Act 1964, as the total prize pool does not exceed $2500. Furthermore, the Workers Lottery website is not hosted in the ACT, and so is exempt under the Lotteries Act 1964.
