Statement: UnionsACT acknowledges achievements of Nadine Flood in advancing and defending public sector workers

The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) has today announced that national secretary Nadine Flood will retire from her role due to health reasons.

The CPSU is the largest union in the ACT, and the leadership of Nadine Flood during her years as leader of the union have played an enormous and positive role for the movement in Canberra.

The following quotes are attributable to Alex White, Secretary of UnionsACT:

“On behalf of the Canberra union movement, I want to thank Nadine Flood for her leadership and service to working people in the ACT.

“Nadine Flood has made an exceptional contribution to defending the public service as an institution, and in advancing the rights of public sector workers in Canberra and across Australia.

“There is no doubt that she leaves an enormous legacy, both within her union and for the wider movement. She can be rightly proud of the battles she’s fought and won, and the strong union she leaves to her successor.

“On a personal level, it has been a pleasure and privilege to work with Ms Flood over the past five years to campaign and organise to build a better future for working people.”
